How to Heal Your Disease Part Three:
Physical Healing
by Jackie Kosednar
Americans haven’t been taught good self-care
and disease prevention, nor will you learn this
from your medical doctor.
Last issue we explored ways of emotional and spiritual
healing that help cure and heal disease states in
the body by getting rid of and coming to terms with
the stresses that caused them. In this issue we will
discuss physical approaches. However, I cannot emphasize
enough the power of healing the emotions within the
big picture of your life. The successful cure for
any disease is always a spiritual event.
From Disease to Health
We have to create health before you can eliminate
disease. Disease is always a symptom of an unhealthy,
out-of-balance body. Medical science has two ways
of approaching a disease or unhealthy condition in
the body: either drugs or surgery. Both of these methods
place the body under heavy physical and emotional
stress. Alternative medicine has hundreds of therapies
that are very powerful for creating health in the
body. It takes a holistic protocol of various remedies
and therapies to restore health to a sick body. So,
how do we return to health?
Food
The first line of defense is a good diet. A bad diet
weakens the body so that emotional and environmental
stress can damage it. When it has to contend with
that, on top of disease conditions, the body doesn’t
have any resources left to heal. To repair the damage
and correct the imbalances, the body needs ammunition
to fight disease as well as building blocks to create
health. The only place it can get this ammunition
is through the foods we eat.
What works well is to eat as many alive, whole foods
as possible. Raw, organic, unprocessed foods contain
micronutrients that we can’t get any other way--no
matter how many supplements we take. Supplements are
very important, yes, but only in conjunction with
a healthy diet. Fruits, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds,
etc., not only have micronutrients, they have a high
oxygen content and are full of distilled water, both
of which the body craves. Foods high in processed
sugar, salt and fat or genetically engineered foods
are basically indigestible. They create toxic conditions
that add stress with which the body then has to deal.
When we cook food, we destroy all the enzymes--and
enzymes make the body healthy. As we age, we also
make less enzymes. So, if and when we do eat cooked
foods, it is a good idea to take digestive enzymes
(no matter our age) to get the most mileage from the
food. There are many experts we can consult with to
improve our diet and make sure it is rich enough in
nutrients to not only maintain health, but to create
more health.
Many health practitioners use muscle testing to determine
if a food or supplement is going to benefit the body
or cause more waste. The body won’t use everything
we give it. It is very selective about what nutrients
or remedies it can use. There are some practitioners
who use bio-feedback computers to measure the body’s
reaction to foods and substances.
Food is also an emotionally charged subject for most
Americans. And here we must once again look at emotional
clearing. A person fighting a disease will experience
a hard time giving up comfort foods. Food addictions
are very real things. The same emotional clearing
techniques we talked about last issue can help us
clear our food issues, thus making it possible for
our new diets to heal the body.
Allergies
Food allergies can also make the foods we love a toxic
problem for the body. (Furthermore, we may have allergies
and sensitivities to many other things besides food.)
Allergies and sensitivities tie up the immune system,
making it overreactive and too busy to deal with what
it really needs to deal with. A strong immune system
not only keeps us safe from pathogens, it gets rid
of toxins. There are some wonderful techniques (like
NAET) and health practitioners that focus on clearing
allergies. When allergies stop stressing the body,
the immune system is freed up to do what it needs
to do--like getting rid of cancer cells. There are
even ways you can clear your own allergies with meridian
tapping techniques.
Remedies
Remedies are medicine that comes from nature. There
are thousands of remedies to handle specific conditions
and problems in the body. Naturopaths and other practitioners
use homeopathic remedies to counteract negative conditions,
whereas herbalists will help you decide which herbs
are most likely to heal your body. Herbs are filled
with nutrients and medicines we have just begun to
understand. They are designed by nature to strengthen
and correct the function of different organs and systems
of the body.
I always recommend having your remedies muscle tested
first, to make sure your body will use them. Also,
never buy cheap supplements or remedies. Many herbs
are grown en masse, on poor soils, then irradiated
and sold to people who aren’t aware. Vitamins
can be made in a chemistry lab, but they lack natural
components--thus making it next to impossible for
your body to use them.
Buying supplements from the health food stores or
local practitioners is always the best idea. People
often come to me with their bags of supplements and
drugs. When I muscle test them, they are shocked that
the cheap herbs and vitamins make their muscles go
weak. But keep in mind that ninety times out of 100,
drugs will stress the body, most usually the kidneys
and liver. Remember: you can’t stress a body
and heal it at the same time!
Speaking of Toxicity...
Detoxifying the body is always necessary if we really
want to get well. We can stop the flow of toxins into
the body by cleaning up our diet and environment,
but we still have to deal with the toxins that are
lodged deep in our tissues and cells. When the body
can’t deal with something, it suppresses that
substance into fat and other tissues. Thus we get
layer after layer of toxins that have been building
up inside of us for years. Our body might reproduce
most of itself every nine months, but it does that
around all the toxins. In other words, they
don’t go anywhere. Many times people on weight-loss
diets feel good for a while; however, as their fat
shrinks, toxins are released into the blood, causing
an overloaded spleen and liver, making them feel yucky.
To heal a disease, we must detoxify. This is always
best when we know what we are doing and have the advice
of a good health practitioner to monitor our progress
and coach us along the way. Detoxing too fast can
actually make us sicker. There are herbs, health machines
and other remedies that are excellent to help a body
clean itself out. The Internet is a wealth of information
on how to detoxify and heal the body. But, again,
beware of buying products that are not organically
grown or come from companies you haven’t researched
and know to be reputable. Don’t be fooled by
marketing hype. The health industry is booming and
many people want a piece of that pie, even though
they care nothing about health.
Then Comes the Bodywork
I could write a book about bodywork. There are so
many varied forms. Bodywork may help improve posture,
balance bioelectrical systems, remove energy blockages,
clear allergies and much, much more. All bodywork,
from hypnotherapy to cranial sacral work, takes stress
off the body, allowing it to unwind and reach a more
stable balance. We can all use a variety of different
works to help our body heal and clear emotional issues.

About Finances
Holistic chiropractors and naturopaths are covered
under many insurance companies, to a degree. Many
times these professionals have integrated clinics,
which means that different types of healing modalities
and bodywork are available. If you have insurance
you can start there. (However, even if you do have
insurance, you are going to have to spend money on
yourself.) Look at how much money the medical profession
charges you to manage your disease! Yet people have
a hard time paying holistic professionals. Americans
haven’t been taught good self-care and disease
prevention, nor will you learn this from your medical
doctor. Because of the insurance industry, we are
not conditioned to spend money on our health. We go
to the doctor and expect our insurance to cover it.
But times are changing very fast. Our medical system
is overloaded. Insurance no longer pays what it used
to and many of us can’t afford the rising costs--especially
if we are self-employed or work for a company that
doesn’t provide insurance. Thus, we all need
to create a budget for our health protocol while keeping
in mind that a lot of it will have to come out of
our own pockets.
Your Protocol
There is nothing the body can’t heal. I have
seen many people heal their own bodies after the medical
profession has given up hope. Where there’s
a will, there’s a way and God is always willing.
I believe that holistic health is one of the fastest
growing movements in the world because it doesn’t
destroy a body to make it better. Furthermore, people
get results.
We all need to take our health back into our own
hands. Don’t wait until you have huge problems
like a disease to contend with. Your protocol should
be designed by you. You can call any of the holistic
professionals or clinics in this magazine and talk
to them to see if they can help you, or recommend
someone who can.
